ChapStick Dual End Hydration Lock Lip Care Review

ChapStick Logo

I was provided with the mentioned product to help facilitate my review. No other compensation was given for this post. My reviews contain my honest opinion with the product.

We all suffer from dry and/or cracked lips at some point and when we do, we need a really good lip balm to soothe and repair them. It's very uncomfortable and annoying to go through the day without smooth, hydrated lips.  America's well known lip care company, ChapStick, has released two new lip care products and I'd like to introduce them to you. But first, let me tell you a bit about ChapStick. The first idea of ChapStick came in the early 1880's but the handmade lip balm didn't have much success. John Morton and Mrs. Morton bought the rights and began creating the famous ChapStick in their family kitchen back in 1912. In 1963, ChapStick was only marketing one ChapStick Lip Balm stick to consumers and eventually was acquired by a different company. ChapStick grew quickly over the years - releasing 4 new flavors. ChapStick is now manufactured by Pfizer and has been since 2009. They now offer several flavors of lip balm and you are certain to find one to fit your lips needs.

ChapStick Hydration Lock

I would like to introduce you to the new ChapStick Hydration Lock lip balm sticks - there are two *new* lip balm sticks in this line. (There is also a single Hydration Lock stick)

PDX Mom Talk Hydration Lock
ChapStick Hydration Lock Moisturize & Renew (pictured left with blue/gray lids)*from fact sheet*:
This lip balm is dual-ended - one end has moisturizing lip balm and the other has revewing lip balm. The moisturize balm is made with an advanced anti-aging formula and antioxidant CoQ10. It also has a long lasting hydration and a soft vanilla flavor. The renew balm is made with natural butters such as Shea. It's also made with mango; which helps soften, condition, and revitalize lips. This stick end also has a botanical medley flavor. The use of  this 2-in-1 lip balm can be very beneficial to its user -

  • Fuller, smoother and younger looking lips
  • Renewing of the lips skin, improving their appearance, and reducing the appearance of fine lines
  • Transforms the way lips feel and look
  • Formula is lightweight and silky

ChapStick Hydration Lock Day & Night (pictured to the right with blue/yellow lids) *from fact sheet*: The two ends included on this stick is "Day" and "Night" - "Day" offers an ultra conditioning formula that protects the lips with SPF 12. It's also unflavored. "Night" has a chamomile scent which is calming. It's made with natural butters, antioxidants, and revitalizing Tamanu oil; which replenish and nourish the lips overnight.  Benefits of using Day & Night ChapStick -

  • Immediate protection and long lasting moisturization is provided by the advanced hydrating formula
  • Provides care for the lips throughout the whole day
I experience dry lips very often and when I was a kid, I got chapped lips really bad. My lips get super dry over night and even sometimes crack during windy weather. I have tons of lip balms but very few satisfy my needs. ChapStick has always been a favorite of mine; it's always been able to soothe and repair my dry/cracked lips. My lips seem to get drier overnight now that I am pregnant and it's super uncomfortable when I wake up. Ever since I received these two products from ChapStick, I have kept the "Day & Night" stick next to my bed. The "Day" end isn't very soothing to me if I already have dry lips. It's smooth, but doesn't give my lips the care it needs if they're dry. It would be great for times when my lips are feeling good and I just want them to have an extra feeling of smoothness and some SPF protection. The "Night" end is very soothing and I use it every night and sometimes during the day. It gives my lips exactly what they need and I love the scent of chamomile it has; it's certainly calming. The lip balm doesn't stay put for a long amount of time - it lasts about an hour; at the most.

The "Moisturize & Renew" stick makes my lips feel smooth and hydrated without making them feel too oily or heavy. I like the subtle scent of vanilla in the "moisturize", but the "renew" doesn't have much of a scent (even though they say it's botanical medley).

I will be using both of these ChapSticks throughout my pregnancy.

You can find the Dual End Hydration Lock lip balms in stores nationwide and they have a SRP of $2.99. To see where they are available near you, go here
